2014 W12 Bentley

Our goals for this project were to correct the paint, add depth and gloss, and then add protection.

The Work

Paint Decontamination

I pre-rinsed the vehicle to remove any loose dirt, grime, or film that could be on the surface of the paint before I started the contact wash.

I foamed the vehicle with a decontamination soap from Obsessed Garage and allowed it to dwell on the surface for a few moments to break down any forms of protection that could have been previously applied (waxes, sealants, etc.).

I performed an iron removal with “P and S” Detail Products “Iron Buster” to both the painted surfaces and the wheels.

I clay barred the entire vehicle with a synthetic clay from Nanoskin called Autoscrub to remove any contaminants that could still be embedded in the clear coat before I started any abrasive compounding.

Paint Correction and Enhancement

I compounded the entire vehicle with a coarse wool pad from RUPES and a diminishing abrasive compound from SONAX called “The Ultimate Cut” to remove all of the minor scratches, defects, and swirls in the paint.

I polished the entire vehicle with an orange HDO foam pad from Lake Country with Sonax “Perfect Finish”, it’s a water-based solvent-free polish from Germany, to remove any marks leftover from our wool pad, and to bring back the depth and gloss to the paint.

I jeweled the paint using a black foam finishing pad from Lake Country with a jeweling creme from P & S Detail Products called “Envy”.

Now that we had achieved the finish we were looking for it was time to add protection and lock it in.

Paint Protection

I cleaned the entire vehicle with an alcohol based panel wipe from Meguiar's to remove any oil or reside that could be leftover from our compound and polish.

I added a layer of Gtechniq “Crystal Serum Light” to both the painted surfaces and the wheels. CSL is known for adding extreme slickness and gloss to the paint as well as years of protection!

I coated the glass and the sunroof with a glass coating from Hyper Clean.

We also fully detailed and dressed the interior as well as cleaned the engine bay.

I baked the ceramic with 2 IR Curing Lamps from Infratech to speed up the curing process.

This was a really fun project to be involved with and I just wanted to thank everyone that has supported the shop this past year and the work we are trying to accomplish. It’s because of all of you that I get to do this, and you have my word that I will continue to treat your vehicle with the same care and respect that I treated this magnificent W12 Bentley.
